In the UAE climate, water damage rarely announces itself. It shows up months later as a stained ceiling below a bathroom or a blown skirting on a terrace wall. The cause is nearly always a detail rather than the membrane itself.
The substrate decides the outcome
Membranes fail on substrates that are dusty, damp, uneven or still moving. Correct screed falls, cured surfaces, filled honeycombing and coved junctions do more for longevity than upgrading the product.
Details, not areas
Specify and inspect the details individually: floor-to-wall coving, upstand heights, drain and pipe penetrations, threshold transitions, movement joints and terminations under door frames.
- Upstands carried high enough behind finishes
- Penetrations sealed with collars, not just extra coating
- Falls confirmed to the outlet before tiling, not after
Test before you cover it up
A flood test on wet areas and terraces, held long enough to be meaningful, with the result recorded and photographed. Once tiling starts, a failure costs ten times more to find and fix.
We treat waterproofing as a hold point: it is inspected, tested and recorded before any covering work is allowed to proceed.
